Orbi Flashing White Light

Troubled because of Netgear Orbi flashing a white light?

Well, you would not be anymore. Because we are going to explain the meaning, causes and solutions for this very issue. First, like every other wireless WiFi network system Orbi also flashes different lights to indicate different issues. You must know the meaning of all the lights to understand the problem.

Meaning of Different Lights

Colour Purpose
Blue Light – It means the router and the satellites are connected and the connection between them is strong.
Orange Light – This light shows that the router and satellites are linked. It is an indication to start initiating the login process if you are setting up the router.
Purple Light – When the router and the satellites can not connect then the device flashes purple light.
White Light – White light indicates that your router is returning to its factory default settings. Either it is applying a new configuration or updating the firmware.

How To Eliminate White Light Issue?

Orbi flashing white light typically shows that the device is configuring, returning to the factory settings or maybe updating the firmware. You can wait for a few minutes for the completion of the process that is going on. But if the light does not stop blinking then it means either the router is not connected to the satellites properly or to your system. Many things can cause this issue. We will mention every single one of them so you can understand the reasons and solutions better.

Electricity

The power supply plays a vital role in the connection of the device you are using. So, first check all the wires, power outlets and plugs if they are working properly or not. There is one more thing that you should do to ensure an efficient power supply. Connect all the power outlets with an inverter so that power cuts will not be able to affect the connectivity.

Internet

If the internet supply is not stable then the user can face this issue. First, check the internet quality in your phone and then contact your Internet Service Provider if the internet is slow or not efficient enough to support the pairing of the router and the satellite.

Ethernet cable

The ethernet cable is the most important thing for the connection of the devices. In addition to that, its efficiency determines the quality of the connection and internet. So you must ensure that the ethernet cable is working efficiently and effectively.

Placement

If your router is not in a favourable place then it can also cause some connectivity issues like these. Place the router in the centre of your house. Ensure that no walls or big objects like showpieces and aquariums are obstructing the connection.

Electromagnetic devices

Some devices emit electromagnetic waves that mess with the network connection resulting in orbi flashing white light. In addition to that, we are not even aware of such kinds of devices and their impact. So, the advice is to google the list of such devices and remove all the electromagnetic devices that may be interrupting the connection.

Firmware Update

Check your firmware if it is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, the router is not able to update the firmware due to some issues and that results in orbi flashing white light. So, download the latest firmware and update it. It does not remove only this issue but also resolves many others that you may be facing directly or indirectly.

Resetting Orbi Router

If the above-mentioned solutions do not work out then you can try resetting your router to resolve the orbi flashing white light issue. Press the reset button on your device for a few seconds. You can use a paperclip or any sharp object to press the button. Your device will reset once the LED light stops blinking. Resetting will eliminate many issues but it will erase all your IDs and passwords too. In addition to that, you will have to configure your device again and set up new credentials.
