How To Change Orbi Network Password?
Though the Orbi router comes with the default password, which is admin in most cases. Undeniably, this password is case-sensitive and easy to guess for every external user. This is why it becomes necessary to set a new password and make it difficult to guess. Here, in this blog post, we are going to tell you two different ways to change Orbi network password. Check them out separately.
Default Password Of Orbi Router
As we mentioned earlier, admin will be the Orbi network password in most cases. But, if this is not working or you are not sure about this then, we recommend you check the manual setup guide. That guide will walk through every brief information about your product from the Orbi router login credentials to the web/IP address. So, go through that guide before moving to further process and note down those credentials as well.
Two Different Ways To Change The Password
There are two methods available for the same purposes, these are the web portal and the Orbi WiFi app. Both approaches involve accessing the management window of the Orbi router on the networked device.
Change Password From Web Management Portal
To change Orbi network password, take your networked device and launch its web browser to go to the Orbi router login page. From that page, you can access the wireless settings of your network. So, insert the router’s default web or IP address in the browser’s search field and click enter. As a consequence, the login page will appear on the device’s screen where you will be required to insert the login details.
Here, use admin as the username and password or the details you get from the manual guide. You will only need to use the default credentials if you have not changed them earlier. Afterward, look for the wireless settings where you will see the network name and password option. Choose those options and insert the new SSID network name and set a different password as well.
Set A New Password From The App Window
The other method for the same purpose involves visiting the Wireless settings page on the WiFi app. Clearly, there will be a requirement to install the app on your Android mobile or iOS device. Use your preferred device and open its app store and search for the Netgear Orbi app. Ensure to choose the latest version and the official app from there.
Meanwhile, check if the mobile is connected to your own network or not and let the device install the app. Now, open the app and log in to the router using the same default username and password. Doing so will enable you to visit the dashboard display. Look for the Wireless settings option and choose the network and password option. Enter the new WiFi network name and the network key password as you want. However, don’t skip clicking the Save button at the end.
Set A Strong Password
While setting up a new password, keep in mind to make it difficult to guess and access for external users. This will help you to prevent unauthorized users on the network. So, try to add at least 8 words in it and insert some special, numeric, and upper/lower characters as well. But, avoid using your personal information in the password such as your name, birth date, contact number, or any other info.
Retrieve The Password
In any case, if you forget the password and are now unable to perform the login process, you need to retrieve it. So, go to the Orbi router login window by using the web or IP address of the router. From there you can choose the Forget Password option if there is any available on the login page. Click on it and enter the security code or the password hint if you set any earlier. Later, you will be able to set a different password for the network.
Reset The Password
If you fail in retrieving the password, you will be required to reset the password by resetting the router to its factory default setting. Doing this process will discard the older configured settings of the network and you need to set it up again. Just press the reset button from the router’s panel and hold it till the process begins.
Once you are done with the reset process, the router will turn to its actual state and requires configuration again. Now, use the default password to set up the router as the older one is deleted. Thereafter, you can set up a new network name and password for your recently installed network.
Thus, you will succeed in setting up the password in these ways. If you are still getting confused with any step during the process, contact our technical experts for more help.
